NPR - MEASURES FOR ENHANCING THE FARMERS’ COMPETENCE IN FARM MANAGEMENT IN NORWAY

Abstract:

This paper brings a presentation of two ongoing projects which aims to develop measures for enhancing farmers’ competence in farm management in Norway. The first one is Competent farmer, which is a project for developing new methods and practices for knowledge transfer between research institutions, advisory services and farmers in Norway through five pilots. The other project is named Digital knowledge base in farm business economics, where the aim is to integrate the development of a new textbook in farm management into a digital platform for publishing and education purposes, such as distance education. Both projects are part of a joint effort among educational and research institutions, advisory services and farm organizations for enhancing farmers’ management competence with a particular emphasis on improving the financial performance and productivity on Norwegian farms.
