Agricultural Economics Society
The Agricultural Economics Society is one of the world’s leading associations of professional and academic agricultural economists. Founded in 1926, the AES now has over 450 members in 65 countries throughout the world. The AES holds an Annual Conference in April and a One-Day Conference in the winter to showcase research findings, engage in topical debate and network.

Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust (BOAT)
BOAT provides training for senior personnel in developing countries to improve rural livelihoods and help to alleviate rural poverty. It was formed in 1991 by a group of Devon farmers. It now offers short courses for personnel and trainers who work in Government Training Institutes or Non-governmental Organisations involved with training and extension work.
Training programmes can be bespoke and offered in the UK at Bicton College in Devon or in country in the form of residential workshops. In 2012 BOAT offered a Short Course in Institutional Management and Business Planning (International) which is accredited by the University of Plymouth. BOAT plans to offer this every year. The course is valued at 30 level 5 credits in the UK Framework of Qualifications.
